Journal Entry 6

December 20, 2024. Today, I typed the final words of the first draft of my novel. It’s hard to believe that the story I once feared would never take shape is now laid out in its entirety.

The draft is rough, full of plot holes and inconsistencies, but it’s a complete story. Emma and Jack’s journey, from the quiet village to the tumultuous climax, is now a reality. There’s a sense of accomplishment and relief in seeing it all come together.

This milestone is teaching me the value of perseverance. There were days when I wanted to give up, when the weight of the task felt too heavy. But I kept going, one word at a time, and now I have something tangible to show for it.

The next phase is daunting: revisions. I know I have a mountain of work ahead to refine and polish this draft. But I’m no longer the same person who started this journey. I’ve grown more confident in my ability to tell a story, and I’m ready to take on the challenge of making this novel the best it can be.

For now, I’m allowing myself a moment to celebrate this achievement. The road to publication is still long, but today, I’m one step closer.
